The State Fair's Giant Vegetables

The Alaska State Fair held late summer in Palmer, Alaska is home to record breaking giant vegetable exhibits. Given Southern Alaska's moderate summer temperatures and copious amount of daylight hours, vegetables can grow to enormous sizes. Take for example a 46 ft gourd, a 39 in bean, a 1,101 lb pumpkin and the world record holding 138.25 lb cabbage head.
