The Barringer Meteor Crater
Arizona contains one of the most well-preserved meteor impact sites in the world. The Barringer Meteor crashed into the high plains of the Colorado Plateau 50,000 years ago and created a crater 1 mile wide and 570 ft deep. The rim of the crater rises up 150 feet above the ground and is composed of boulders the size of houses.
