Mounds Shaped Like Bears and Birds

Effigy Mounds National Monument in northeastern Iowa preserves more than 200 prehistoric earthen mounds built by Native American cultures — including rare mounds shaped like bears and birds. Some of the mounds are around 2,500 years old.
