Maryland is home to the National Aquarium in Baltimore, the most visited aquarium in the United States, and also to the Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, which has been ranked the top hospital in America more times than any other institution. The concentration of world-class research institutions in a relatively small state has made Maryland one of the leading biotech and life sciences hubs in the country, with more federal research dollars per capita flowing into Maryland than almost any other state.
