Prince and Paisley Park
Prince Rogers Nelson, known simply as Prince, was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota in 1958 and spent virtually his entire career recording in a private studio complex called Paisley Park in the Minneapolis suburb of Chanhassen. He released 39 studio albums, sold over 150 million records, and won 7 Grammy Awards. Prince famously retained ownership of his master recordings, a decision that was so unusual in the music industry at the time that it inspired a generation of artists to fight for the same rights.
