Home to Some of Earth’s Oldest Trees

Great Basin National Park in eastern Nevada shelters Great Basin bristlecone pines — among the longest-lived organisms on Earth. A tree named 'Prometheus,' cut down in 1964, was later found to be over 4,900 years old, and living neighbors in the grove are of similar age.
