The Diner Capital of the World

New Jersey has more diners than any other state in the United States, earning it the undisputed title of the Diner Capital of the World. The state has between 525 and 600 diners, depending on how you count, more than the next several states combined. The proliferation of diners in New Jersey is tied to the state's history as a manufacturing center for prefabricated diner buildings, many of which were produced by factories in New Jersey and shipped by rail or truck to locations across the country.
