Seven Presidents From One State

Seven U.S. presidents were born in Ohio, more than any other state: Ulysses S. Grant, Rutherford B. Hayes, James Garfield, Benjamin Harrison, William McKinley, William Howard Taft, and Warren G. Harding. An eighth president, William Henry Harrison, lived most of his adult life in Ohio and is closely associated with the state even though he was born in Virginia. The concentration of Ohio presidents in the post-Civil War era reflects the state's status at the time as the most important swing state in American politics.
