Rhode Island's Beloved Del's Lemonade

Del's Lemonade, a frozen lemonade made from a recipe brought to Rhode Island by Italian immigrant Angelo DeLucia in 1948, has become so deeply embedded in Rhode Island identity that it is considered the unofficial state drink. The shops, which use the same lemon rind recipe Angelo developed in his garage in Cranston, now operate dozens of locations and are open only in warm weather. Rhode Islanders who have moved away often cite Del's as the thing they miss most about home.
