The Birthplace of Dr Pepper

Dr Pepper was invented in Waco, Texas in 1885 by a pharmacist named Charles Alderton who worked at Morrison's Old Corner Drug Store, making it the oldest major soft drink in the United States, predating Coca-Cola by one year. Alderton mixed the drink from a combination of fruit syrups and carbonated water and initially called it a Waco. The exact formula remains a trade secret, and despite decades of speculation and analysis, no one outside the company has been able to identify all 23 flavors listed on the label.
