The Mighty Five National Parks
Utah contains five national parks within a relatively compact area of the Colorado Plateau: Zion, Bryce Canyon, Capitol Reef, Canyonlands, and Arches. The region, marketed by the state as The Mighty Five, offers a concentration of dramatic red rock scenery found nowhere else on earth. The landscape was formed by millions of years of sediment deposition followed by the uplift of the Colorado Plateau and subsequent erosion by wind and water, which carved the sandstone into the arches, fins, hoodoos, and canyons that draw millions of visitors each year.
