About FactMap

Exploring the United States, one surprising fact at a time.

Our Mission

FactMap was built on a simple belief: the United States is one of the most fascinating countries on Earth, and most people have barely scratched the surface of what makes it remarkable. From the oldest cave system on the planet hiding beneath Kentucky to a pre-Columbian city in Illinois that once rivaled London in population β€” the stories are everywhere, and they deserve to be told.

Our goal is to make learning about American history, geography, and culture feel less like a textbook and more like a conversation β€” one that leaves you genuinely surprised and a little more proud of the country you live in.

Why Geography Matters

There's something powerful about knowing your country. Understanding where things happened β€” where jazz was born, where the first vote for women was cast, where the transcontinental railroad came together β€” turns history from a list of dates into a living landscape you can picture and feel.

When you know that Wyoming was the first place women voted, or that a city in Illinois was once the largest in North America, national pride stops being abstract. It becomes specific, local, and real. That's the kind of pride worth having β€” not blind or loud, but curious and earned.

Learning That Sticks

FactMap is designed for all ages. Whether you're a student discovering American history for the first time, a teacher looking for something to spark a classroom discussion, or just a curious adult who wants to know more about the place you call home β€” there's something here for you.

Short video clips bring the facts to life. The quiz tests what you've learned in a way that's fun rather than stressful. And with facts across all 50 states, every visit turns up something new.
