The Actual London Bridge is in Arizona
The London Bridge, built between 1824 and 1831 to span the River Thames, was slowly sinking under the weight of modern traffic by the 1960s. The City of London put it up for auction, and in 1968 American entrepreneur Robert McCulloch bought it for $2.46 million. Workers numbered every granite block, dismantled the entire bridge, and shipped it to Lake Havasu City, Arizona, where it was rebuilt over a man-made channel of the Colorado River and opened in 1971. A popular story claims McCulloch thought he was buying the more famous Tower Bridge by mistake, but this appears to be a myth. Today the London Bridge is the second most visited tourist attraction in Arizona, after the Grand Canyon.
