Yosemite's Impossible Geology

Yosemite Valley was carved by glaciers over millions of years, leaving behind some of the most dramatic granite cliffs on the planet. El Capitan, a sheer 3,000-foot wall of solid rock, is the largest granite monolith in the world and a bucket-list challenge for climbers. Yosemite Falls, at 2,425 feet, is the tallest waterfall in North America. The whole valley sits at just 4,000 feet elevation, meaning you can drive right in and be completely surrounded by these giants.
