More Springs Than Anywhere on Earth

Florida has more freshwater springs than any other place on Earth, with over 700 known springs pumping millions of gallons of crystal-clear 68 degree water to the surface every day. Because the temperature stays constant year round, manatees migrate from the Gulf of Mexico each winter to gather in the warm spring water, sometimes in groups of hundreds. Some of the springs are large enough to swim in and so clear you can see the sandy bottom 30 feet below as if looking through glass.
